Plot summary: Bit is of historical significance because he/she/it was the first computer-generated sidekick in film history. When Flynn, a game programmer and arcade owner, breaks into Encom (his former employer) to nab proof that his designs had been stolen by the current Encom president, the MCP (Master Control Program) catches him in a laser beam and breaks his body down at the molecular level and transforms it into a digital form. Flynn awakens inside the Network, where he must fight the MCP to find his proof and get back home. While traipsing around in the cyberworld, Flynn happens across Bit, a free-spirited little ball of polygons who only responds in positives or negatives: yes and no. He quickly proves to be a sidekick of the Alfred Molina from Raiders variety and flees at the first sign of danger. Still, without Bit, there would never have been more recent CGI sidekicks, like Jar Jar Binks, Teddy, or Ben Affleck. This would explain his small but loyal cult following on the web, rumored to have been started by Bill Gates, who considered him to be the first "smiley." (more) User Comments: Bit's not exactly the most detailed character Disney's ever come up with. He's more or less just an emotionless, jagged-edged amorphous blob, not unlike the characters of any given Nintendo 64 game, or Donald Trump. He comes in three colors: red, gray, or yellow. If he came in brown, he'd match all the excretions that the male human body emits, which explains why Tron is such a popular film in Germany. User Rating:
