Jack (1989)
Animal
Outfit: Turtleneck sweater / Handlebar moustache / Trench coat / Aviator Goggles Tagline: "Krikey!!" (Which he stole from Penfold) Plot summary: Monterey Jack was the original Rescue Ranger, a seasoned explorer, the mouse equivalent of Indiana Jones. He was brave, resourceful, a tad too sure of himself, and his best friend was a housefly named Zipper. Fly. Zipper. Get it? Monterey had only two known weaknesses. The first was his obvious obsession with getting into the pants of Gadget, the Rescue Ranger's staff mechanic and resident show eye candy. While he seemed to hide his unrequited love from Gadget herself, he made little to no effort in hiding it from anyone else. His other, more deadly weakness was his physical and mental addiction to cheese. To put it kindly, cheese was Monterey's anti-drug. So strong was his taste for the aged snack that whenever he got within half a mile of the stuff, he'd fall into a Romero-like zombie state and shuffle towards the cheese, plowing through any and all obstacles. This more often than not got Chip and Dale in trouble, leading one to question why they never put him in cheese rehab. (more) User Comments: Monterey got on my nerves, I must say. His endless sniffing of cheese and sniffing of Gadget pheromones was an act that got old quickly. Add to that the fact that he dressed like the aviator from Mad Max 2 and spoke like Iron Hide the Autobot might've sounded were he a Mitsubishi Outback, and you can see why I shed few tears when the series came to a close. He was just way too over the top, as though he were channeling Steve Irwin ten years before the Crocodile Hunter assaulted our senses with tales of "rattlahs" in "Nowth Hamericah." I can recall wishing he was a playable character in the NES game, so I could fight all the way to the last level, and then let Top Cat eat him. User Rating:
