Plot summary:

Sam is probably the only character you'll see in this database who was never in a film or short. He was the official mascot of the 1984 Olympic Games, and as they were being held in the U.S.A., they went to the kings of U.S. Animation, the Walt Disney Company, to design their mascot. Sam was the result. The only actual animation of Sam that I know of were little snibits used during the Olympic telecasts. However, there were hundreds of Sam The Eagle products available at EPCOT and the MK that summer, many of which can still be found on Ebay. There was brief talk that year of giving Sam his own Saturday morning cartoon show, but nothing ever came of it, possibly because no one could see any entertainment value from a cartoon that would basically be an animated version of the most boring character on the Muppet Show. User Comments:

Man that outfit just makes your heart swell with pride, doesn't it? He looks like the offspring of a marriage between Foghorn Leghorn and Wonder Woman. Of course, a character like that would be considered far too politically incorrect these days. If Disney came out with a Sam The Olympic Eagle Show today, he'd only be on TV for a week at most before being blown up by Ochnod The Afghani Turkey Vulture.
